SHL Season Preview Roundup: Star Returns, Signing Scandal and 26 Imports

Aftonbladet has published an SHL season guide covering two of the offseason's main storylines: the return of a star player and a recruitment scandal. The guide appeared on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, according to the outlet.

Among the linked reports, Dagens Nyheter carries an interview with an NHL star who is coming back to Sweden and says his best hockey is still ahead of him. Hockeysverige reports separately that one player turned down the NHL to join Färjestad, describing a feeling of excitement about the move.

On the recruitment side, vmishockey.se has published a preview of what it calls the summer's hottest signings in the SHL, while Hockeynews has assembled a list of 26 imports, setting out which it considers finds and which it regards as question marks.

The material available does not name the returning player, the club involved in the recruitment scandal, or the players on the import list. Those details sit in the individual reports rather than the summaries.

The SHL guide and the linked articles together frame the weeks before the season as a mix of high-profile comebacks and scrutiny over how clubs have built their rosters.

What to watch next: confirmation of the player identities and club details behind the recruitment scandal, and how the 26 imports perform once the season begins.
